June 2019 Book of the Month Giveaway

June was a so-so reading month for me. Out of the six books and novellas I read during the month, only half rated four stars or higher, and out of those three, only one received that all-important five-star rating to be in the running for Book of the Month. It’s the companion guide to one of my all-time favorite romance series, one that has been very popular over the years since its publication. I found this to be a very informative book that gives readers all sorts of insights and background that you don’t get merely from reading the novels and which can help to enhance the reading experience.

It contains a 65-page transcript of an interview with the author which gives some insights into her writing journey, writing process, and the series in general, and I was very pleasantly surprised to find that some of our experiences mirror one another. However, the bulk of the book is an encyclopedic reference to every character in her imaginative universe. This part was quite fascinating because of the impressively detailed backstories she offers on virtually all of the characters, some of which readers aren’t privy to in the reading of the novels. There were several characters I was very excited to learn more about and the family trees for the werewolves were particularly interesting. The final 100+ pages are a mixture of ingredients from a complete timeline of the series to a full summary of all four books of the series, along with vehicle specs, a full playlist, a fan art gallery, and more. And of course, it’s all accompanied by full-color illustrated concepts of the main characters, as well as certain places and scenes within the series that added a new dimension to these stories.

Overall, I found this to be an excellent companion piece to the greater Twilight Saga, which contained a wealth of new information. A book like this could potentially be dry, but I found it be quite readable and very much enjoyed learning all of the facts it had to impart. That’s why I’m naming Stephenie Meyer’s The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide as my June Book of the Month. If you’re a die-hard fans of the Twilight Saga, like myself, then this is a must-read. Keep reading to learn how you can win a copy for your own library.
